Two days to go

Here’s a video Laurie made of the Kickboxing with Justyn Billingham app. What do you think?

I have been working with Justyn since February on his Kickboxing app and I thought you might like to see what he has to say on the subject of conditioning for martial arts.

To mark the release of his Kickboxing with Justyn Billingham app for Android, iPad and iPhone in April 2013 Justyn shares some thoughts of the importance of conditioning, together with some suggested training drills.

Fitness and stamina are two elements that a fighter has to have in place to ensure that if the fight lasts for more than approximately thirty seconds, that fighter is capable of continuing. Despite this, a large number of fighters fail to develop their fitness and stamina to a high enough level and as a result, end up losing the fight due to fatigue.

Fatigue is a terrible thing to have to deal with, especially if your opponent is fitter and has more stamina than you do. I once had the great pleasure of meeting a martial arts legend and childhood hero of mine, the great Bill ‘Superfoot’ Wallace. Bill won the middleweight world full contact…

Your mission, should you choose to accept it ….

We have been working night and day here at appT2D HQ on the release of our Kickboxing with Justyn Billingham app.  It’s just been submitted to Apple for approval, the Android version is nearly ready and we are looking set for its launch on 11th April.

It’s a really, really awesome app even if I do say so myself.  It’s got so much content, but a really small footprint, and one of my favourite technical features is its neat carousel, within a carousel, which makes it easy to find the video your want because there are loads of them included.  Here’s a picture of it.  It’s so cool.  Also there are a few more screen shoots on our web home page.

Anyway, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is this.  I’m looking for a few people to join a little bit of a prelease focus group, to take a look at the app and let me know what you think.  If you would like to help out, let me know and I will arrange access for you.

Thanks everyone.

Power & Speed

It was with great excitement that this month’s copy of Martial Arts Illustrated dropped through our front door on Friday.  Not only did it have a half page advert for the app we are releasing with Justyn Billingham in April it also had Justyn on the Front Cover.  Justyn has an amazing sidekick and he has written a very detailed article on how to perfect this highly effective kick in this month’s issue.

One of the things he discusses is the importance of speed in order to generate power.  I found this really interesting as I never think of my kicks as particularly powerful so I always throw them as quick as possible to fake it.

I love kicking and thankfully even though I’m in my forties I still kick like a teenager.  I often like to practice with my husband.  I put all his moaning down to being a total hypochondriac but it seems all along it did hurt because I was kicking fast.

I read in his article that Justyn recommends using ankle weights to build up speed when you’re kicking so Laurie’s off to get some without delay!  Don’t think he’lll be able to kick faster than me though ;-).

Kickboxing with Justyn Billingham app Preview

Laurie has been working really hard and I thought I’d show you some of the work in progress for the Kick boxing app in this Slideshare presentation.  It’s got something like 220 photos, 40 plus videos and three hours worth of audio drills.  Apart from that it’s got a quiz and lots of background material.  If you want more info about it’s release sign up here http://eepurl.com/vvS5P

Here at appT2D HQ we are getting very excited because Justyn is on the front cover on next month’s MAI magazine.  Check out this side kick.

Watch this space…….

Today Laurie and I went on a little bit on an adventure and travelled up to the out skirts of London to meet with a well known martial artists in kickboxing circles.  The purpose of our visit was to take a look at Laurie’s app and to discuss producing an app for him!!

Well he absolutely loved the app, and subject to us agreeing terms, we will be working with him very soon.

I can’t tell you who it is just yet but I wonder if you can guess.
